The weekend is at our doorstep as we head into Friday, May 10, 2019. Even though forecasters say we may have showers this weekend, the cool spring rain won't dampen the fun. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

2019 Nevada Sharks softball fundraiser features beer and bräts at Carson City's Fuji Park

Join Nevada Sharks Fastpitch for the 2019 Nevada Sharks Fundraiser: Beer and Bräts at the Fuji Park Exhibit Hall in Carson City on Friday, May 10.

This is a 21-plus event with all you can eat and drink, music, a door prize, a silent auction, and raffles to include the raffle of a Henry Rifle this year. The event begins at 6 p.m.

'Singin in the Rain' is probably one of my favorite movies, but I have no doubt that the Western Nevada Musical Theater Company has taken the classic to new heights. Get tickets now if you'd like to catch their production, they are known for sold-out shows. Funnel cakes, Ferris Wheels, and more are waiting for you at Mills Park. A carnival is a great way to help Mom celebrate her special day.

Get your fill of sunshine today, we’ve got a wet wine walk weekend coming. The stars will be shining bright tonight, though, Western Nevada Musical Theater Company debuts its spring musical ‘Nice Work if You Can Get It’ complete with amazing choreography, melodies, and an exceptional cast. Cinco de Mayo parties all over town offer up food and drink specials, in addition to the fun times that can usually be found on a Friday night. Start the day with a cup of joe or a yummy blended drink at Dutch Brothers Coffee and you’ll be helping find a cure for ALS.

There’s nothing unlucky about this Friday the Thirteenth. Spring is in full bloom, the sun is shining, and the weekend is hours away. Beers and Brats returns to Fuji Park; the girls of Nevada Sharks Fastpitch look forward to seeing you. Upstairs in the ballroom of the Brewery Arts Center, a special show featuring Pioneer High School students’ art begins at 5 p.m. Enjoy a night on the town with live music at the Fandango, Max Casino, Bella Fiore, Westside Pour House, and Glen Eagles. Friday, September 11: Things to do in Carson City

Many of us will never forget where we were when we first heard about the hijacking and subsequent attacks on the World Trade Center. September 11, 2001 is burned into our collective memory. At 8:30 a.m. this morning there will be a memorial service at the 9/11 Memorial in Mills Park where an I-beam from the fallen towers now serves as a reminder. Even if you cannot make it to the ceremony, please take a moment of silence to remember.

There is no place like home, and for most of you reading this, that home is Carson City. One of our greatest prides is the Western Nevada Musical Theater Company: don’t miss the final weekend of ‘Music Man’ at the Community Center. Today caps Bike to Work week; if you brave the rain this morning, you will be rewarded with free coffee at several coffee houses around town. The annual Bike Week party is on Third St., by Firkin and Fox, starting around 5:30 p.m.

Beer and Bräts Fundraiser May 17 for Nevada Sharks Softball

The annual Sharks Beer and Bräts fundraiser for Nevada Sharks Fastpitch Softball will be held at the Fuji Park Exhibition Hall in Carson City on May 17 beginning at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $20 with all proceeds going to support the program by keeping the cost down for the families by funding tournament fees, uniforms, equipment and our indoor training facility.
