26th Annual

I Love Carson City’s Weekend Event Summary: March 11 – 12

Event Date:
March 11, 2017 (All day)
March 12, 2017 (All day)

What’s this? A weekend with no snow in sight? That’s the best news I’ve heard in months. Welcome to the wrestlers and swimmers who are in town for their respective tournaments: you’ll find other fun things on this list to occupy your downtime. It’s a St. Patty’s celebration in Virginia City this weekend with the parade, Rocky Mountain Oyster Fest, and Ball Buster Saloon Crawl. Bragging rights are on the line at the Sixth Annual Thirsty Boy Homebrew Competition sponsored by Just Brew It. You’ll get a sneak peek at the soon-to-open Shoe Tree Brewery if you attend the award ceremony.

Virginia City adjusts itself, prepares for kicks at 26th Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry, St. Patrick's parade

The play on words are endless for Virginia City’s 26th annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry, taking place March 11, 2017 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the heart of the historic mining town. The “oysters” consumed at this festival are the land variety, meaning bull or sheep testicles.

Our clinic, in conjunction with our local Advocates to End Domestic Violence, are asking that you help us raise food for the families at this shelter by donating non-perishable items such as canned or dried foods, diapers, evaporated milk, etc. Make a donation of one bag of these items and you will receive a gift from our office as a special thank you from our community. Come join the fun.

Doug 'Mac the Naw' Busey's Lake Tahoe and Sierra fishing report for Memorial weekend

Hello fellow anglers and welcome to Memorial weekend. Before I get to our local report, I have to tell you about some great people.
As many have heard, due to the lack of rain in the Carson Valley, the 26th annual Lampe Park Kids Fishing Derby was going to be moved to Mitch Pond. I am here to say, due to the generosity of the Carson Valley Ranchers, they have collectively agreed to give the amount of water needed for the five day derby event. That my friends is what community is all about. I tip my hat to the Carson Valley Ranchers for stepping up and making a difference for the kids.
