Carson City and Washoe County offices open with delays, closed in Douglas and Storey counties
Carson City and Washoe County offices will remain open Monday with possible delays, while Douglas and Storey county offices are closed due to weather.
A news release sent Sunday evening states that if people need to visit offices in Carson City they should call ahead. A directory of phone numbers can be found on www.carson.org through the Government tab. The Carson City Senior Center and Meals on Wheels will be closed today due to the inclement weather.
Washoe County offices will be open Monday, but with possible delays. People are advised to call ahead if they need to visit a county office, or call Washoe311 at 3-1-1 or 775-328-2003.
On Sunday evening, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak ordered state offices closed for Washoe County, Carson City and Douglas counties due to weather concerns.
In a news release from Douglas County, it states that for the safety of staff and the public, Douglas County has closed county offices and buildings on Monday, December 27, 2021 due to the winter storm conditions and potential increase to already significant snowfall.
"Douglas County Manager Patrick Cates in consultation with Sheriff Coverley will continue to monitor the situation and follow safety advice from the Nevada Department of Transportation. The safety of our employees and the public are a top priority," the news release states.
Emergency services and the Road Department will continue to operate. Douglas County has a snow removal policy which determines how and when County roads are plowed. The County works in partnership with the Nevada Department of Transportation, Towns of Gardnerville, Genoa and Minden, and various General Improvement Districts to provide snow removal service around the area. The policy states crews will be sent out at 4 inches of accumulated snow on the roads. For more information on snow removal, please call the Douglas County Public Works Department at (775) 782-9035.
Due to weather conditions and other state and regional office closures, Storey County offices are closed today for all non-emergency and non-snow-response staff.
