Carson City Sheriff's Office to do second December alcohol compliance check
Thursday, Dec. 28 the Carson City Sheriff’s Office in cooperation with Partnership Carson City, will be conducting an alcohol compliance check. Minor decoys will be sent into local businesses in Carson City that have liquor licenses. The decoys will attempt to purchase alcohol, using their real identification.
We will be focusing on businesses checking identification properly and denying the sale of alcohol to minors. A common mistake is not calculating the age correctly when checking identifications.
Please remember if you serve or sell alcohol, the person must be born on or before the day of the purchase in 2002, making them 21 years old. Also, remember not to accept expired forms of identification. Our goal is to have 100% compliance and have no alcohol be sold to our decoys.
Our mission with this program is to keep our city’s youth safe and sober. These checks are designed to help keep our kids safe and businesses in compliance with county and state laws. Any questions, please contact Deputy Daniel Loyola at dloyola@carson.org.
Editor's Note: This is the second alcohol compliance check this month. The first one was Dec. 14 where two businesses failed the compliance check.
