Carson City arrests: Man booked for false imprisonment, woman found hidden in back seat
A 61-year-old man was arrested early Monday for suspicion of felony false imprisonment, misdemeanor simple battery and four counts of being in violation of parole and probation conditions, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Mario Saavedra Figueroa, listed with a Mound House address, was taken into custody at 12:47 a.m. following an investigation. According to the booking report, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on an unregistered vehicle that failed to maintain its lane of travel while going southbound on I-580 at Fairview Drive in Carson City.
The deputy contacted the driver, and learned the man was registered through the Department of Alternative Sentencing. The man could not provide the deputy with valid registration or insurance. While looking for registration and insurance he moved a box in his vehicle containing four small liquor bottles. Dispatch was notified and DAS wanted to place a hold on the man for four counts violation of conditions.
As this was going on another deputy located a passenger hidden in the back seat of the vehicle, who informed deputies she was picked up by the man, who told her he would give her a ride home. The woman said the man drove her out to the desert and would not let her leave, the arrest report states.
The woman told deputies Saavedra Figueroa placed her in the back seat of the car, pushed her and closed the door. The woman told officers the contact was unwanted and that she feared for her life and that the man threatened her. She said she did not know where he would be taking her. She completed a statement.
Saavedra Figueroa was taken to jail and booked for felony false imprisonment, misdemeanor simple battery and four counts violating bail conditions. Total bail amount listed: $33,137.
