Carson City glass maker donates proceeds from handmade ornaments to local children in need
During the holiday season, it’s everyone’s job to step in and help where and how they can. For Justin Colburn of Sierra Glass Mill, he chose to help out while doing something he loves: glass blowing.
Colburn is making a number of locally-made, glass-blown ornaments in order to give back for the holidays. All proceeds from the ornaments will be donated to Austin’s House.
Austin’s House has been caring for children in crisis since 2007 by providing emergency shelter for children removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.
The ornaments can be purchased from Shoe Tree Brewing Co. in Carson City, which is located at 1496 Old Hot Springs Rd.
According to co-owner of Shoe Tree Paul Young, Colburn began glass blowing a few years ago, but does not have a store front to sell. Young said he and Shoe Tree were happy to provide an avenue for the ornaments to raise funds for Austin’s House.
