Volunteers sought for annual Holiday with a Hero event in Carson City, fundraisers announced
It’s that time of year again, the giving season! And nothing feels better than giving your time helping children in need.
Each year, Holiday with a Hero provides a shopping day for local children in need in which they’re paired up with a local Hero from law enforcement agencies, first responders, government agencies, and more.
This year, the annual shopping day is scheduled for Dec. 13 at the North Carson City Walmart on Market St.
The biggest need this year is for present wrappers. Volunteers are asked to meet just after 8 a.m. on site. Coffee and donuts will be provided.
Unable to come for shopping day? There are other ways to help! Spread the word to family and friends, or participate in the event’s fundraisers happening in early December.
Friday, December 1 at 5 p.m. Holiday with a Hero will be downtown at the annual Carson City Silver and Snowflakes tree lighting downtown. Holiday with a Hero has two booths set up on either side of the Capital and will be serving hot cocoa and a few snacks. They will also have an added extra layer of warmth with alcoholic additives for those, of age, wishing to participate.
Saturday, December 9 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., is the Feast with a Hero event at Bodines Casino. Bring the whole family and have a wonderful breakfast or lunch served by a local hero within the community. All proceeds will benefit our organization.
