More than 17,000 go without power in Douglas County, thousands without power at South Tahoe
UPDATE 9:18AM: NV Energy reports power mostly restored throughout Douglas County. The problem appears to be caused by equipment failure at the Buckeye Transfer Station in Douglas County. East Fork Fire units responded to the fire in the equipment area and NV Energy is working on the damage. Power has been fully restored for South Lake Tahoe area customers.

More than 17,000 NV Energy customers are without power Monday morning, while thousands more across the state line in South Lake Tahoe are also experiencing an outage.
The outages began after 5 a.m. As of 7:10 a.m. 17,461 in Douglas County were without power, according to NV Energy. Meanwhile the power outage is from Emerald Bay throughout the South Lake Tahoe area, affecting at least 20,000 Liberty Utilities customers.
NV Energy says the cause is under investigation.
NV Energy says power should be restored by 10:45 a.m. Liberty Utilities estimates power will be restored by 7:44 a.m.
