Carson City adds more new jobs in October; statewide employment also has gains
Employment remains 22,200 jobs higher than before the pandemic and is up 55,500 jobs since October 2021, an annual increase of 3.9 percent.
The total employment level in the state is 1,471,800. The state’s unemployment rate in October is 4.6 percent, increased by 0.2 percentage points from 4.4 percent in September and decreased by 0.8 percentage points when compared to October 2021
Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) Employment (Seasonally Adjusted):
— Carson City employment had an increase of 100 jobs (0.3%) since September, an increase of 800 jobs (2.6%) since October 2021.
— Reno employment had a decrease of 500 jobs (-0.2%) since September, an increase of 7,300 jobs (2.9%) since October 2021.
— Las Vegas employment increased by 4,900 jobs (0.5%) since September, an increase of 46,300 jobs (4.5%) since October 2021.
“This report continues to show a strong labor market in Nevada. The gain in jobs over the month was one of the higher levels in the past year, and the unemployment rate mirrored the national trend, rising slightly as labor force participation increased to the highest level this year,” said David Schmidt, Chief Economist.
