Nevada Day 2021 commemorative stainless-steel cups available at several Carson City restaurants
CARSON CITY — greenUP!, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides environmental education to businesses announced that Nevada Day commemorative cups are now on sale for $15 at restaurants on Carson Street including Arby’s, Cactus Jacks, So Juicy, the Union and the Nevada Day Store.
Nevada Day organizers and greenUP! collaborated to create a stainless-steel beverage cup and 14 Carson Street restaurants and establishments will provide a $1 discount on alcohol and other beverages for patrons that bring their cups with them on Nevada Day. Use of the stainless-steel cups will help reduce the plastics waste that litters Carson Street along the Nevada Day parade route.
“We are providing these reusable commemorative cups to reduce single use plastic waste,” said Donna Walden, President of greenUP!. “Folks that save their cup can use it for several promotions that greenUP! hosts throughout the year as part of its Carson Street Green Dining District initiative.
The cups are available at the Nevada Day store located at 1013 S. Carson Street (Copper Point Plaza next to Red’s Old 395 restaurant). You can also purchase them today at Arby’s, Cactus Jacks, So Juicy, and the Union located on Carson Street. The cups will be sold on the parade route in front of the Adams Hub for Innovation (corner of Proctor and Carson Streets) for $15 during the parade. The cups sold out early last time they were offered, so customers are encouraged to purchase before the limited supply runs out.
“The 2021 parade theme is ‘Historic Moments in Nevada’” said Ken Hamilton, Executive Director for the Nevada Day organization. “Numerous moments throughout our state’s history helped to shape and define Nevada and we will highlight specific periods during our 157 years of statehood. What better way to celebrate and to honor Nevada by taking steps to preserve our beautiful state for future generations.”
Recycling and sustainability activities this year at Nevada Day are being organized by Nevada Division of Environmental Protection. Look for water filling stations and recycling stations manned by environmentally conscious volunteers.
Restaurants that are participating in the $1 off beverage are: Arby’s*, Cactus Jacks, Carson Cigar Company, Cucina Lupe* Feisty Goat, Juan’s Mexican Grill, Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar, Red’s 395, Remedy's, Scoups Ice Cream and Soup Bar*, So Juicy, Squeeze In, The Union* and Westside Pourhouse.
