Two Fallon residents identified in fatal crash involving semi in Churchill County
Nevada State Police, High Patrol Division has identified two from Fallon who died Monday, Oct. 16, in a two vehicle crash involving a semi-truck.
Sheryl Evans, 73, and Christopher Jenkins, 42, both of Fallon, died at the scene of the crash that happened on Mclean Road and Casey Road in Churchill County, according to Nevada State Police.
At approximately 9:52 a.m., the Nevada State Police were called to the crash. A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2006 Pontiac sedan was traveling eastbound on Casey Road approaching the intersection at Mclean Road. A 1997 Semi truck and trailer was traveling northbound on Mclean Road approaching the intersection at Casey Road.
According to Nevada State Police, the Pontiac failed to stop at the stop sign on Casey Rd and entered into the path of the semi-truck. The semi-truck struck the right side of the Pontiac, and the Pontiac sedan was pushed into a water canal.
The driver of the Pontiac sedan, Sheryl Evans and the passenger of the Pontiac sedan, Christopher Jenkins, died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, according to state police.
Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Northern Command West M.I.R.T (Multidisciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team) is investigating this crash.
This marks the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol, Northern Command West 39th fatal crash, resulting in 45 fatalities for 2023.
