Nevada Day organizers, Carson City Sheriff's Office provide parade safety tips
Nevada Day, Inc. and the Carson City Sheriff's Office work together to ensure a safe and enjoyable Nevada Day celebration. We care about our community, so prior to the big event, we want to remind parade participants and spectators to follow some simple rules.
Throwing candy or other items from a float is prohibited and very dangerous. Items being thrown may hit and injure a bystander. Items on the ground encourage children to run into the street to retrieve them and float drivers may not see a child until it’s too late. Please, don’t toss anything from your float or vehicle.
If you must cross the street, please be cautious. Normal crosswalks may not be available for use during the parade. Parade marshals and law enforcement will be available to direct traffic. Please use discretion and don’t walk in front of a moving vehicle.
Drivers in the parade must stay at a speed no greater than 5 miles per hour. Any driver doing excessive revving of their engines, or lunging their vehicles to impress the crowds will be escorted off the parade route.
Aggressive behavior will not be tolerated. Everyone who attends the parade, and those marching in the parade, should have fun and feel safe. Anyone who’s behavior intimidates or shows aggression toward others will be escorted away from the parade route.
The Nevada Day Celebration is a family friendly event. Please keep that in mind as you celebrate.
Nevada Day, Inc. and the Carson City Sheriff’s Office are committed to a safe and enjoyable celebration for all participants and spectators. Thank you for doing your part to make this a fabulous “Carnivál on the Comstock”!
