Carson City scout project to collect bicycles for Africa ends Sunday at Walmart
Carson City area Boy Scout Luke Bowler is collecting used bicycles and bicycle parts to send to Africa in an effort to help the people there. The drive, which began Sept. 25, is Bowler's Eagle Scout project. Thus far, 65 bikes have been collected. The goal is 100.
Bowler will be collecting bicycles and parts Sunday, Oct. 2 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Walmart, located at 3200 Market Street in North Carson City.
In parts of Africa, a bicycle can make a difference between living in abject poverty versus receiving health care, getting an education, or realizing employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
All donations are tax deductible.
Get those old broken down bikes out of your garage and back yard, receive a tax deductible donation credit, and be part of an Eagle Project for local Boy Scout Venturer Luke Bowler, Venture Crew 64.
Luke is partnering with Mike's Bikes in California to ship a full container of bicycles to help people in Africa.
