Domestic violence calls leads to dog getting Tased
A Carson City Deputy had to use his Taser to fend off an angry dog while answering a domestic violence call yesterday afternoon in the 2100 block of Columbia Street.
A woman called 911 for an unknown problem and told police to hurry. According to the arrest report, when the deputy arrived, he saw a 58-year-old male subject leaving the residence. When the deputy asked the man if there was a problem in the house, he said his girlfriend was having a seizure, but continued to his vehicle as if he were going to leave.
The deputy asked the man to escort him inside, where they encountered a woman using a walker. The two subjects began yelling at each other. Dispatch confirmed the male subject has a misdemeanor warrant for domestic battery. The deputy asked the male subject to step outside because of the woman yelling and two dogs barking.
As he was trying to go out the door, the deputy reported that a medium-sized gray dog attacked him, biting his right ankle. The deputy shook the dog off, but it attacked him again. That's when the deputy said he deployed his Taser, with one of the probes hitting the dog and the other striking the floor. The dog released his bite and ran around the room.
The two subjects started to scream because they thought the deputy had shot the dog with a gun. The deputy pushed the male subject out the front door and cuffed him, and two other arriving deputies took him away.
After the female subject calmed down, she told the deputy that her boyfriend had come home with a 40 oz. beer, which she isn't allowed to have in the house because she's on probation. She said they argued and he shoved her down to the floor twice, and she hit him with her walker and called police. Neither party appeared to have sustained any injuries, and the dog was OK too.
The male subject was arrested on the prior misdemeanor domestic battery warrant, and his bail was set at $3,132.
