Carson High School library gets quieter, students find peace with new soundproof study pods
The Carson High School Library just got a lot quieter and is helping students find peace with the addition of two new state-of-the-art soundproof study pods. The enhancement is designed to provide students with a focused, distraction-free environment to support their academic pursuits.
The new study pods, which were officially installed last week, are designed to offer students a quiet and comfortable space for studying, reading and relaxing in the library. Each pod is equipped with modern features, including ergonomic seating, adjustable lighting and high-speed internet access, ensuring an optimal environment for productivity and learning.
The decision to incorporate soundproof pods was driven by feedback from students and faculty, who identified a growing need for quiet study areas amid increasing library traffic. The new pods are designed to reduce noise interference, creating an ideal environment for focused work and enhanced learning.
The two study pods were funded entirely by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Statewide Library Capacity grant, provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and administered by the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records.
The study pods are now available for use at Carson High. Students are encouraged to reserve their time slots through the library’s online booking system.
