Carson City emergency crews respond to trash fire at the Carson City landfill
UPDATE: 8AM: The fire at the Carson City landfill in East Carson City is out but is still smoldering and putting up some residual smoke, according to fire officials. Those passing by may see some smoke. Firefighters are continuing to mop up the fire and are monitoring it as of Sunday morning. No homes or structures were threatened. The cause remains under investigation.

UPDATE: 10:30PM: Water tinders remained on scene of the Dump Fire Saturday night, dousing the flaming trash with water. Other resources with the Carson City Fire Department remained staged in the area. Cause of the fire is under investigation.

A fire has been reported at the Carson City Landfill and emergency crews are on scene, where flames are reported visible inside the landfill, an area of about 200 feet by 200 feet in size.
However, explosions of combustible materials were observed and the flames are spreading rapidly.
Firefighters report that the fire is burning trash only. No brush or structures are threatened at this time.
Traffic control is being put into place at Flint Drive and Rifle Range Road.
