65th International Camel and Ostrich Race returns this weekend to Virginia City
Saddle up and prepare for a wild ride this weekend as the International Camel and Ostrich Races returns to Virginia City this weekend, Friday through Sunday, for its 65th year.
Get up-close to camels, ostriches, zebras, emus, and more as professional and amateur jockeys gallop, swerve, and falter their way to the finish line. This is more than a wacky spectator sport. The crowds compete against each other to win prizes from Virginia City merchants.
The races are a Nevada tradition and one of the must-see events of late summer. The family-favorite event takes place at the Virginia City Fairgrounds and Arena and features food trucks serving up carnival-style treats, craft and artist vendors, a wide variety of beverages at the event bars, official camel races merchandise, and camel rides for that must-have photo-op.
