Carson City Sheriff: Suspect dies in officer involved shooting, stabbing victim seriously injured
UPDATE 8:30 a.m.: The Carson City Sheriff’s Office released the following press release:
On August 28th at approximately 10:59 p.m., Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a mobile home park at 170 Koontz Lane in south Carson City for a reported Domestic Battery With a Deadly Weapon. A teenaged juvenile had reported on 911 that his father had stabbed his mother multiple times. The juvenile also reported that his father had cut himself severely and was “almost beyond help”.
Once on scene, Deputies located the Victim mother outside of the residence with multiple stab wounds and determined that two juveniles had fled from the mobile home with their mother to a safe spot. Paramedics on scene treated the Victim who was later taken by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center. Both juveniles were safe and unharmed. The Victim’s wounds were determined to be “serious”. She is listed as in stable condition at Renown.
Deputies had attempted contact with the Suspect from outside the residence but were unable to get any responses. At approximately 11:15 p.m., after repeated failed attempts to make contact with the Suspect, Deputies entered the house in an attempt to rescue the injured Suspect. Once inside, an altercation took place, and the Suspect was shot by two officers. The Suspect died at the scene.
Sheriff’s Deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on Administrative Leave pending an investigation into the incident. The investigation is being performed by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in accordance with previously established protocols.
The identities of the Victim, Suspect and Officers is being withheld at this time.

A officer involved shooting late Wednesday night resulted in the death of a man who allegedly stabbed his wife, according to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
The woman suffered serious injuries and was flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center. She was reportedly in serious but stable condition. The couple's children, both juveniles, were not injured, said Sheriff Furlong. No law enforcement officers were injured.
The incident was reported at 10:59 p.m. in the 100 block of Koontz Lane where officers responded to a 911 call made by one of the couple's children, said Sheriff Furlong.
Deputies responded to the scene where the injured woman and children managed to escape from the suspect. Officers entered the mobile home residence, where shots were fired and the suspect died, said Sheriff Furlong.
The incident will be investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, as protocol when officer involved shootings happen.
