The Golf Lodge now open in Carson City gives players the advantage of lowering their scores
On one of our notoriously windy summer evenings where a golf ball would have sailed all the way to Lake Tahoe and possibly beyond, The Golf Lodge in Carson City formally opened its doors Thursday, showing contrast between two experiences.
One would be playing a round of golf on a simulator at a world famous golf course in a warm, windless and inviting atmosphere. And the other that evening: playing golf in 30 mph winds that would have you chasing your golf hat instead of playing a leisurely round.
While the wind was showing who was boss, Carson City Chamber members, family, friends and dignitaries gathered for a brief ribbon cutting outside the city’s newest entertainment center.
Assemblyman PK O’Neill presented 26-year-old owner Alec Emmons with a certificate of congratulations and then tried out his rusty golf putt at Pebble Beach. Emmons gave him a few pointers and he immediately improved his stance and putt. Mayor Lori Bagwell and Chamber Chair Melanie Thomas also presented certificates of congratulations and those who wanted to try the simulator had their opportunity to show off.
The Golf Lodge features a full-service bar and a private meeting room/party room as well as the main room featuring three simulator bays where fans can follow the efforts of their favorite local golfer while enjoying a cocktail. In total, there are four Trackman iO simulators and four hitting bays to practice skills while playing over 330 courses.
No matter the weather or how hot or cold or windy it may be outside, this year-‘round golf club is open to serious golfers who want to improve their score as well as the beginning golfer who won’t have to hold up a line of foursomes as he/she learns the finer points of the game. Simulators are a great learning tool and “coach.”
Simulators score quite accurately and provide valuable feedback on every aspect of the swing and putting technique to allow for better form when out on one of the region’s great outdoor courses.
Conveniently located at 4530 S. Carson Street beside the soon-to-be opened law offices of Benson & Bingham, The Golf Lodge offers a variety of craft cocktails, beer on tap, wines, and over 48 selections of bourbons, scotch and whiskey and more. Memberships available. Check out the website here.
