Carson City’s LA Bakery to franchise beyond to Nevada, California, Arizona
Ali Arbabha and Leila Tavakoli, the original owners and founders of L.A. Bakery have decided to step out beyond Carson City to franchise their successful bakery.
The husband and wife duo created this business in 2009, originally called Shirini Shop where they sold their signature baklava at local farmer’s markets. The bakery, which started around 200 square feet, has been slowly growing over the years and after having two expansions, has now grown to be about 4500 square feet.
Now, their business is going to grow across states.
“The most exciting thing is that we would like to share this with others,” Arbabha said. “Thanks to the people of course. If we didn’t have the customers that loved us, we couldn’t do it. Everyone supported us so much and we thank all the people.”
Currently, their menu features a collection of sweets, pastries, sandwiches, wraps, salads, full breakfast options and more. L.A. Bakery specifically wants to franchise their business model and bring baked goods imagined by Tavakoli, and the rest of their menu, to people in the western states.
Right now, Arbabha said the focus will be to continue expanding nearby in Nevada, including possibly Reno, Gardnerville, Minden, Sparks and Tahoe, eventually expanding to states nearby like Arizona and California.
"We’ve got very good people working with us also. That’s very important," Arbabha said. "It’s very important for the people that have L.A. Bakery, that they treat their employees the right way."
"That’s very important [to us] because if they are not happy, nobody will be happy!" Arbabha laughed before adding, "That’s the key to success. And we treat all of our staff here just like a family and that’s why we have great people here working with us.”
