Dayton man who posted his crimes on social media jailed for multiple weapons, drug charges
A Dayton man who posted being chased by law officers on social media was arrested for multiple weapon and drug charges, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's office.
Charles Robert Williams was located taken into custody Tuesday following an investigation by the sheriff's office special investigations unit.
Williams was identified as a suspect in a felony eluding case in February of 2024 after he posted a video he made of himself being chased by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office to social media, according to the sheriff's office in a news release.
Williams was later identified as a suspect in the alleged theft of a firearm, after once again, posting a video of himself in possession of the stolen firearm on social media. Williams is also an ex-felon and is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.
On Monday, August 19, 2024 the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Investigations Division, Special Investigations Unit obtained and executed a search warrant for Williams’ residence.
During the subsequent search of Williams’ residence, detectives located numerous dangerous weapons to include brass knuckles, a stun device (stun gun); a stolen handgun, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Williams was not at his residence at the time the search warrant was execute.
On August 20, 2024 LCSO detectives located and arrested Williams, who was subsequently booked in the Lyon County Jail on the following charges:
Ex-Felon in Possession of a Firearm
Grand Larceny of a Firearm
Possession of a Stolen Firearm
Possession of a Stun Device by an Ex-Felon
Felony Eluding a Peace Officer
Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (2 counts)
Possession of a Controlled Substance
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
