Authorities look for owners of stolen property recovered in Douglas County
Property believed to be stolen in the Douglas County and Carson City areas has been found and authorities now hope to turn over the recovered items to their rightful owners.
A large amount of electronic items, including cell phones, iPods, a web cam, as well as miscellaneous costume jewelry was turned in to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on July 7 by an anonymous citizen who located the property in a vacated residential trailer, reports Sgt. Jim Halsey.
This led Investigator Nadine Chrzanowski to look into the possibility of unreported burglaries or thefts that may have occurred in the Douglas County and Carson City areas. Because of the amount and type of property recovered, and the secreted location where the items were found, it is believed the property is stolen, Halsey said. Investigator Chrzanowski is seeking the public’s help in identifying the owners of the property.
Anyone who has been a victim of a residential/vehicle burglary or theft in the last several months, wherein items of this type were stolen, is asked to call Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Nadine Chrzanowski at (775) 782-9907 to describe the property for possible identification and return.
This case is active and on-going. No crime(s) have yet been confirmed, and no suspect(s) or involved person(s) identified, Halsey said.
