Northern Nevada author Molly Dahl to feature new book during signing, meet and greet tonight at Carson City's Adams Hub
CARSON CITY — Northern Nevada author Molly Dahl and publisher iUniverse have announced the release of her new book, The Art of Emotional Resilience: An Everyday Guide to Resisting Reaction, Cultivating Compassion, and Gracefully Managing Yourself.
Dahl, who has a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and was a classroom teacher for 15 years, wanted to produce a book for adults based on the same principles that she’d successfully taught in her signature Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program for teens, YOUTH Positive, which was implemented in a number of schools in Nevada and California.
“The skills and concepts that we use to cultivate and build emotional resilience are universal,” she notes. “As parents saw how much YOUTH Positive helped their kids, they wanted to learn more about the concepts for themselves. I realized there was an intense thirst for this information, and that I could expand upon it for an adult audience.”
The author drew upon her rich educational background and her passion for lifelong learning to write the book. Dahl holds a certificate of Applied Positive Psychology from the WholeBeing Institute; she’s a certified instructor of Cultivating Emotional Balance; and she’s an instructor of yoga and meditation as well. Dahl is the co-founder Mindful SEAD, a nonprofit organization established to support educators in teaching mindful social and emotional learning. She has also taught graduate level courses for Sierra Nevada University on social, emotional, and academic development.
