Carson City arrests: Traffic stop leads to meth, cocaine, hallucinogenic mushrooms and pills
A 30-year-old man and 33-year-old woman were arrested Wednesday for alleged possession of a controlled substance among other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Amanda Skific of McArthur, Calif., was arrested in the 2800 block of South Carson Street for two counts felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, gross misdemeanor possession a dangerous drug without a prescription and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jose Mariscal-Meza of South Lake Tahoe, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a felony warrant alleging uttering a forged instrument, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and a contempt of court warrant out of Tahoe Justice Court.
According to the booking report, a deputy with the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team observed a vehicle turn out of a casino, and failed to come to a complete stop behind the limit line on Sonoma and Frontage Road.
The officer activated their overhead lights on the unmarked patrol car. The suspect vehicle stopped in the parking lot of 2800 South Carson Street. The SET deputy made contact with the driver, Skific, and passenger Mariscal-Meza.
While speaking with them, a detective arrived to conduct a record check with dispatch. A k9 sniff was done on the vehicle. The dog alerted positive on the vehicle, the report states.
During a search, officers located a bag of hallucinogenic mushrooms inside the woman's purse. Also located in a black backpack that Mariscal-Meza had on his lap was a small glass pipe used for smoking methamphetamine and a small bag of meth.
The man was placed under arrest for the drugs in his backpack as well as a warrant out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $7,138.
The woman was advised of her Miranda rights which she said she understood and chose to speak. She stated she had more controlled substances on her person. The substances located in a container were cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin, the report states. Also located in her pocket were 2 Oxycodone pills. Also, a rock of methamphetamine was found in her bra.
The combined weight of suspected methamphetamine is 16.3 grams. The combined weight of suspect cocaine is .8 grams and the combined total weight of the mushrooms is 13 grams. Bail: $8,637.
