Carson City arrests: Man arrested for burglary tools found with hundreds of locks, keys and knobs

A 61-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of possession of felony burglary tools and a parole and probation violation as well as other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
William Cato Sells, listed as being from Reno, was taken into custody at 11:56 a.m. He also faces misdemeanor charges of driving on a suspended license, driving with a revoked or suspended registration and no proof of insurance.
According to the booking report, a deputy observed an unregistered SUV traveling west on Highway 50. The deputy made a traffic stop on the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Sells. The man told the deputy he was driving to Reno from visiting friends in Silver Springs and did not have registration or insurance for the vehicle. A records check showed the man's license was suspended and he was flagged with lifetime supervision by the Department of Parole and Probation.
A K9 conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted positive to narcotics. Deputies located numerous boxes and a bag containing hundreds of car keys, house keys, and door knobs.
The man was read his Miranda warning and agreed to speak. He told deputies he is a locksmith, maintenance man and he buys and flips cars from tow yards as a side business. He provided a contact number for a supervisor, who was contacted by a deputy who stated Sells is a groundskeeper only and does not have permission or authority to be changing locks.
The deputy was also informed that Sells has been instructed numerous times to not use lock-smith tools on site, the arrest report states.
He was arrested for suspicion of possession of burglary tools and other traffic related charges. He's being held without bail in lieu of a hearing for parole and probation violation.
In other arrests:
— A 25-year-old woman was arrested Monday for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
According to the arrest report, deputies were called to 20 College Parkway in reference to a battery. A witness stated he saw a female adult throwing rocks at a male adult, hitting him as he was attempting to back away.
A deputy made contact with the male victim and the female suspect. The male advised that he and his wife were in an argument and she began to throw rocks at him. He stated he did not want to press charges.
The arresting deputy spoke with the woman who advised she and her husband were in an argument but said nothing else. Deputies spoke with a witness, a security guard, who said he witnessed the female yell and throw rocks at the man, hitting him in the ribs, and continued to batter him as he tried to walk away. The woman was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.
A 47-year-old woman was arrested Monday for suspicion of gross misdemeanor obstructing an officer with force and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
According to the booking report at 11:32 p.m. a deputy observed a woman laying on the sidewalk in front of a thrift store on North Carson and Long streets.
The deputy approached the woman and shook their shoulder. The woman identified herself. The deputy asked the woman if she was OK and said that it was illegal to sleep on the sidewalk. The woman replied she was a federally protected person and she could sleep on the sidewalk.
She refused to move or comply, became verbally aggressive, and wouldn't allow to be cuffed, at one point grabbing the deputy's leg. Other officers arrived. The woman claimed she was injured and was taken to the hospital where she was discharged after being given ibuprofen. She was taken to jail and booked for suspicion of obstructing and disorderly conduct. Bail: $2,500.
— A 36-year-old Carson City woman, Chelsie Padilla, was arrested early Tuesday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, no vehicle registration and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle that didn't have a license plate or a moving permit in the window. She was asked if she had any narcotics in the vehicle and the woman replied she did not, according to the arrest report.
She gave the deputy consent to search the vehicle. The woman was pat down for weapons where the officer located methamphetamine on her person. Methamphetamine packaging with residue was located in the vehicle and at jail, a small glass vile was found on her person. Bail: $3,709.
