The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Division urges motorists and motorcycle riders to use extra caution this weekend as thousands of riders will be on northern Nevada roadways.
Trooper Charles Caster urges motorcycle riders and vehicle drivers to share the road and watch out for blind spots, and to watch their speed. Motorcycle riders are 28 times more likely to die in a crash than other motorists on the roadway.
"Be hyper alert when riding a motorcycle. Motorcyclists are encouraged to make themselves visible. Motorcycle riders should wear a DOT-compliant motorcycle helmet. Always ride sober and make sure that as riders you are riding within your ability level," he said. "We have had an unusually high number of motorcycle fatalities in Northern Nevada alone just in the past two months. Drive and ride safe Nevada."
