Carson City arrests: Man jailed for throwing store items, breaking ceramic figures

A 34-year-old Mound House man was arrested Saturday, 11:44 p.m. in the 4600 block of South Carson Street for suspicion of gross misdemeanor destruction of property, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

According to the booking report, deputies responded to the area for a report of an individual who had broke items inside a convenience store.

A deputy arrived and located a male matching the description. The deputy heard the man yell an obscenity. The suspect got out of his vehicle per request of the deputy and was checked for weapons. The subject was agitated and cycled between screaming and following directions, the report states.

The reporting party who called it in, announced loudly "That's him. Arrest him," the report states. This agitated the suspect who began shouting. The suspect was placed into handcuffs and monitored by another deputy, according to the booking report.

The reporting party stated the suspect entered the store, used the restroom and when he exited began throwing items off the shelf and breaking collectible ceramic figures. Total damage was approximately $500. The reporting party agreed to a citizen's arrest and the suspect was taken into custody for suspicion of gross misdemeanor destruction of property. Bail: $2,137.

— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 2:54 a.m. for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and failure to maintain a lane. According to the booking report, a deputy responded to vehicle crash near the intersection of College Parkway and East Nye Lane.

A deputy made contact with the driver, who was sitting in the driver's seat and asked him if he needed medical attention. The Carson City Fire Department was called due to airbag deployment. The man declined. He admitted to a deputy that he had been drinking prior to the crash. A deputy observed an open, half empty bottle of tequila inside the vehicle.

The man submitted to standardized field sobriety test and showed signs of impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .284 and was booked for suspicion of DUI and failure to maintain a lane. Bail: $1,224.

— A Carson City man was arrested Sunday in the area of West Proctor and North Curry for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and failure to yield to a traffic control device.

According to the booking report, a deputy observed a vehicle run a red light at East Robinson and Carson Street. The office conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. The deputy could smell the odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his person and from inside the vehicle. The deputy asked the man if he had consumed any alcohol. The man replied he had a glass of champagne.

The deputy asked the man to conduct field sobriety tests. The man informed deputies of lower back problems, including his upper and lower back disc fused together. Knowing the back problems are disqualifies for many of the tests, the officer explained that he would perform a horizontal gaze nystagmus test. The man showed clues of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .086 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he agreed to an evidentiary blood test. Bail: $1,249.

— A 31-year-old Dayton man was arrested Saturday, 1:04 a.m. in the 1400 block of East William Street for misdemeanor suspicion of possession of stolen property (a license plate) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,274.

— A 40-year-old Carson City man, Paul Delbert Simpson, was arrested Friday, 7:19 p.m. in the 1300 block of East 5th Street for a felony failure to appear warrant issued May 19, 2021 out of Carson City District Court. Bail: $30,000.

The Reno Police Department arrested a man as part of a child sexual assault case. On July 17, 2018, detectives responded to a home in north Reno on a report of a young girl who said she was the victim of a sexual assault. Since then, three victims interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center reported being victims of sexual assault.
