Carson City named among 10 top small cities for remote workers

Carson City has been ranked in the top 10 among the best small cities in the United States for remote workers, according to a new study by Ownerly.com.
The home valuation website examined 304 metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas as identified by the US Census Bureau. Ownerly then ranked them based on a weighted average of data points related to the cities’ housing values, affordability of goods and services, web connectivity, safety, climate and park access.
Carson City ranked sixth in the top small cities for remote workers section, scoring high in sections like median rent, number of broadband providers, median home value and low property crime.
The Ownerly.com study noted that as Nevada's state capitol, Carson City is "home to many fine restaurants, parks, trails and historical features, making it the perfect destination for those seeking a small town refuge to both work and live."
The website also noted its access to Lake Tahoe, and the capital city's many museums.
Not mentioned but otherwise noteworthy when it comes to remote working, Carson City is also home to at least three offices designed for business and entrepreneurs to work out of. They are Adams Hub for Innovation in downtown Carson City, Pinnacle Executive Suites and the recently opened Diverse Business Connections.
Adams Hub for Innovation is designed for entrepreneurs and and innovative start-ups. The facility, located at 111 West Proctor Street, is designed to help businesses grow and includes a collaborative environment with a team of mentors and advisors as well as guest experts. It's downtown Carson facility includes dedicated offices for one to three people, four fully-equipped conference rooms, open co-working areas, a flexible event space and a roof deck for meetings.
Diverse Business Connections, located at 800 East College Parkway, opened for business in January. Diverse Business Connections management advises they're not just office space, but rather a unique business networking hub for Northern Nevada. They offer weekly networking groups, bi-weekly question and answer sessions with local experts, and monthly networking events.
The facility has wi-fi, with amenities such as office supplies, hi-speed internet, a receptionist, a coffee break room, networking and 24-7 access. Each Wednesday is designated a "free pass day" where people can come in, sit in one of the empty offices and spend a day, half a day or a couple of hours working. Memberships for working space are available.
"Carson City is a growing community, meeting the needs of entrepreneurs and innovators," said Keri Mullin, controller of Diverse Business Connections. "We're here to help people start up their business."
This year, Carson City has been placed on a number of "top 10" and "best of" lists including "Best Places in America to Travel Right Now and Avoid the Pandemic" by Forbes Magazine. In March, Insurify named Carson City among a list of Best places to Retire and a week later, Carson City was listed by Rent.com among the Least Crowded Places to Live in the U.S.
“It seems just about everyone is recognizing what a great place — and still affordable — place Carson City is for just about anything whether it is to live, work, or play," said Carson City Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ronni Hannaman. "This is our third recognition in about 10 days and what an honor!"
