Sierra Nevada Forums to discuss Carson City road funding April 9
On April 9, Sierra Nevada Forums, in partnership with the American Association of University Women and the League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada, will host “The truth about Carson City road funding: straight from the horse’s mouth.”
Road funding has long been a concern for both residents and public officials alike, but the topic is a tricky one. That’s why Sierra Nevada Forums is hosting a talk specifically about the issue of road funding in the capital city, during which participants can learn the details of street funding, how Carson City arrived at the amount of funds needed, and what it means for your neighborhood.
“Carson City owns about 286 miles of paved roadways but only has enough funding to preserve or repair about 5 miles of these roads each year,” a representative of the forum wrote. “As a result, our local and neighborhood roads are falling apart, and many of them will likely turn to gravel before being repaved.”
The forum will be held at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, located at 511 W. King St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the forum will begin at 6 p.m.
