Carson City weekend arrests: Man booked for battery, allegedly spit on security guard
A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for misdemeanor battery after allegedly spitting on a casino security guard, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
At 1:06 a.m. CCSO deputies were dispatched to a casino on South Carson Street regarding a guest who was being verbal and refusing to leave. Dispatch advised the man also spit on the face of one of the security guards, according to the report.
Deputies arrived on scene and located the suspect, who was in a verbal argument with several security guards that were in the parking lot. A deputy spoke with one of them who advised the man spit on his face while they were getting him out of the casino. The security guard stated he wanted to press charges.
CCSO deputies attempted to speak with the suspect, who was being verbally uncooperative and denied spitting on one of the guards. He was arrested for suspicion of battery and taken to jail. Bail: $1,137.
In other arrests:
— A 30-year-old Carson City man was booked Saturday for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Jan. 16, 2024 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000 cash.
— A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of misdemeanor resisting a public officer. Bail: $300.
— A 44-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday for two misdemeanor failure to appear warrants issued out of Storey County Justice Court. Bail: $3,000 cash only.
— A 25-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested early Sunday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and failure to maintain a lane.
According to the booking report, a deputy was traveling northbound on South Stewart Street and noticed a vehicle in the number two lane directly in front of them. As the vehicle approached East 9th Street, it swerved to the right, causing both driver side tires to cross over into the number one lane. The vehicle corrected and proceeded to travel northbound.
The officer conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. The driver had red, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, the report states. The deputy asked if he had been consuming alcohol. The man said he had two beers at a bar.
The man was asked if he would be willing to submit to standardized field sobriety tests. The man agreed and showed signs of impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .174 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he consented to an evidentiary breath test with results of .137 and .134. Bail: $1,137.
