Carson City deputies make arrests over weekend for DUI, drugs, assault and battery

A 34-year-old man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of DUI, speeding, failure to maintain a lane of travel, driving on a sidewalk and reckless driving, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Deputies made contact with the driver of a vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed, going 70 mph and pulling away from the deputy down Stewart Street and South Carson Street. The driver was swerving in and out of the travel lane, then went over a curb at South Stewart and 9th Street, the report states.
Deputies observed the male driver's gait was off balance, he had red watery eyes and slurred speech while talking and there was an odor of alcohol coming from his person.
The man agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .289 and was arrested at 2:43 a.m.
The man was taken to jail and later submitted to evidentiary breath tests. He provided samples of .172 and .191 between the hours of 3:26 a.m. and 3:29 a.m. Total bail amount listed in the booking report: $1,800.
In other arrests:
— A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday for suspicion of misdemeanor battery. According to the booking report, the man crawled through a window of a residence. A person who lives at the residence had applied for a temporary protection order. It had not yet been served. The suspect stated he lives at the residence and was locked out.
The victim said the man tried getting through the front door and kicked it, but couldn't get in. They stated the man opened the bathroom window and crawled through. The victim said he tried pushing the man out but he eventually got through the window and stated fighting with him. The victim had injuries to his hands and was bleeding. He denied medical attention.
A witnesses collaborated what the victim said, saying the suspect began wrestling in the bathtub with the victim. The suspect was arrested for battery. Bail: $1,137.
— A 67-year-old woman was arrested Friday for a misdemeanor warrant alleging violation of a suspended sentence.
According to the booking report, a reporting party called dispatch to report a woman was in the travel lane of West College Parkway and North Carson Street. The woman was found on the ground in the roadway. The woman was not hurt and said she wanted to sleep. Carson City dispatch advised she had a warrant for violation of a suspended sentence. The warrant was issued Jan. 19, 2024 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000 cash.
— A 55-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of misdemeanor assault. According to the booking report, deputies responded to a residence and made contact with the suspect, who was intoxicated. He alleging entered the residence of a family member, was intoxicated and began yelling, cussing and was told to leave.
The suspect punched a door causing a hole. He was ushered outside, where the door was closed and locked. Deputies asked the suspect what happened. He stated he didn't do anything wrong, came home to sleep when others came after him. He would not elaborate any further about the incident.
He was placed under arrest for assault. He refused a breath test. Due to his being intoxicated, he was taken to Carson Tahoe Hospital for medical clearance and taken to jail, where he again refused to provide a preliminary breath test. Bail: $637.
— Two were arrested early Monday for suspicion of felony drug possession (suspected cocaine) and other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Joel Serrato and Preston Avery Shahan, were taken into custody at 2:20 a.m. Serrato was booked for the following: suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a revoked license, expired registration and no proof of insurance. Bail: $2,500. Shahan was booked for suspicion possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,500.
