COVID-19 transmission remains high, but trending downward in Quad-Counties; hospitalizations remain high

As of Feb. 9, test positivity rate remains extremely high within the quad counties, with an average of 40.6 percent of all tests returning positive, according to Nevada Health Response.

However, while case transmission and test positivity remains high, there is also a downward trend from the peak highs occurring at the end of January and the beginning of February.

Hospitalizations remain high, with 55 patients currently hospitalized within the Quad Counties. Six ventilators are currently in use, according to Nevada Health Response.

All counties in Nevada except Eureka are currently flagged for elevated disease transmission due to high test positivity rates and case rates per 100,000 in the last 30 days. Storey County is also flagged for not performing enough tests, according to Nevada Health Response.

In the Quad Counties of Carson City, Douglas County, Lyon County and Storey County, there have been 30,384 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, and 441 people have died from COVID-19.

Statewide, there have been 636,718 total confirmed cases with 1,278 new cases reported daily. 9,270 Nevadans have died from COVID-19.
