Community invited to memorial service, Miracle Minute fundraiser for Carson High student who died in pedestrian accident
To honor Lexi Rodriguez, the family is inviting friends, students, teachers and community members to attend a Celebration of Life at Fitzhenry’s Funeral Home Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024 at 10 a.m., 3945 Fairview Dr., in Carson City.
A graveside service will also be held that afternoon at 12:30 p.m. at Lone Mountain Cemetery, 1044 Beverly Dr., in Carson City. A reception will follow immediately after the graveside service at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 West King St., in Carson City
Individuals and families may also show support and comfort by sending flowers, adding memories, sharing stories or uploading photos on the family’s digital memorial or go here.
Additionally, Carson High School (CHS) will host a Miracle Minute fundraiser Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, for all those wishing to donate to support the Rodriguez family. The fundraiser will be held during the school’s A3 class period where students, teachers and employees may make donations for 1 minute, pooling their money into an envelope in their classrooms. Following the Miracle Minute, leadership students will collect the envelopes, approximately 20 minutes into the class period.
All contributions are free from any fees or surcharges, meaning all the money goes straight to the family. If members of the community would also like to donate to the miracle minute, donations may be dropped off at Carson High School's main office until Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
The school district and Carson High continue to offer support services for our students, staff and community members affected by this loss.
“We understand how difficult this time is, and we want to continue to offer our support in every way we can,” said Andrew Feuling, superintendent for the Carson City School District. “Counselors and mental health professionals remain available to provide the necessary support and resources during this grieving period.”
“In this moment of sorrow, let us find comfort in our community’s solidarity and the lasting impact Lexi has left on all of us,” he continued. “Our thoughts, prayers and support are with Lexi’s family and all who are grieving this immeasurable loss.”
