Woman spends night in gondola cabin at Lake Tahoe ski resort
A woman was found Friday morning at Heavenly Mountain Resort in South Lake Tahoe after spending the night in a gondola cabin.
It is unclear how she got there, and if she was found in a gondola cabin near the lift base, or the gondola cabin in middle above a slope run. However, she told KCRA Sacramento that she was on a ski trip with her friends, when the gondola stopped, leaving her for 15 hours. She said she didn't have a phone and yelled for help. “The safety and well-being of our guests is our top priority at Heavenly Mountain Resort. We are investigating this situation with the utmost seriousness,” said Tom Fortune, VP and COO of Heavenly Mountain Resort and the Tahoe Region.
The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office responded to a missing person call at 7:43 p.m. Thursday. At this time it is unknown if the two situations are related.
The incident is under investigation and no other information has been made available.
