Carson City Symphony Youth Chorus for children 4 to 12 to begin spring session Jan. 30
Carson City Symphony Association invites children ages 4 to 12 to join the Symphony Youth Chorus (formerly Joyful Noise Carson Children’s Choir) the spring Session.
Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, Jan. 30, from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., in an upstairs classroom at the First United Methodist Church, 412 W. Musser Street in Carson City. Tuition is free.
The Chorus Director, Michelle Powers, said, “Weekly rehearsals develop students’ musical skills, strong singing voices, and joy in music. I am excited to begin a new season of singing and playing, creating music, and making new friends!" Performances will be with the Symphony Youth Strings in concert on Thursday, April 25, at the Carson City Community Center, and at senior centers and retirement homes.
The Symphony Youth Chorus, an educational program of the Carson City Symphony Association, was founded in 2017 and has been directed by Michelle Powers since fall of 2019. It is supported in part by public funds through a grant from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts and by private donations.
