Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce veterans dinner a success
On Sunday, the community of Dayton rallied to provide 120 veterans and their guests a plated dinner, music, raffle, and swag in recognition of their service to our country.
Held at the Dayton Valley Golf Club and hosted by the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, NSHE Vice Chancellor Caleb Cage was the keynote speaker. Cage, a native Nevadan, has served in various capacities in public service for nearly 20 years.
Immediately following his graduation from the United States Military Academy West Point, he was commissioned as an artillery officer in the US Army, serving in Germany and Iraq for over five years. Attending the event with Vice Chancellor Cage was his family and the president of Western Nevada College, Dr. Vincent Solis.
As a gesture of thanks to Mr Cage, the Chamber presented a check for $1,000 to Dr. Solis for the WNC Veterans Resource Center. Other organizations that received $500 each were the Dayton VFW Post 8660 and the Northern Nevada All Veterans Honor Guard.
John Cassinelli, Chamber President and Master of Ceremonies for the dinner noted that it was because of the generosity of 16 table sponsors and title sponsor Dayton Valley Golf, that the donations were possible. For more information about the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, call 775-246-7909.
