Brothers from Carson City, Minden area triumph in 2024 Nevada Day Treasure Hunt, claim $1,000 prize

October 2, 2024 (All day) Darren and Baron Stanley, brothers from Carson City and Minden, demonstrated extraordinary persistence and teamwork as they cracked the codes and deciphered the intricate clues of the Nevada Day Treasure Hunt, claiming the coveted $1,000 prize.
Their successful quest led them to uncover the hidden Nevada Day Treasure Hunt medallion after deciphering 10 clues at the base of a post off Derby Field Road in Pershing County, near the entrance to the Humboldt Wildlife Management Area.
The annual Nevada Day Treasure Hunt, a cherished tradition since 2000, brings Nevadans together each October in celebration of the state’s rich history and stunning landscapes. Clues are released on the official Nevada Day Treasure Hunt website and social media, challenging participants to explore Nevada’s past and present through puzzles, historical references, and geographical riddles. The event engages communities, fostering a deeper appreciation for Nevada’s heritage.
Baron Stanley has been actively participating in the hunt for the past 12 to 13 years, and his brother Darren joined him 8 years ago to help decipher the cryptic clues. This year, for the first time, the brothers went out together in search of the treasure, and their combined efforts finally paid off. After days of studying the clues, they navigated to the remote location in Pershing County and found the medallion hidden in the vast Nevada desert.
Upon receiving their $1,000 prize from the Nevada Day Treasure Hunt committee, Darren and Baron expressed their excitement and gratitude. “We’ve been at this for years,” said Baron. “Finally getting to experience the thrill of finding the medallion together makes this year’s hunt extra special.”
