Sierra Lutheran cross country team competes in Folsom; Marchegger places 2nd
The Sierra Lutheran Cross Country Team traveled to Folsom, California for the Bella Vista Bronco Invitational on Saturday, Oc. 14. The weather was clear and cool with a touch of humidity. The course of 3.1 miles winds across a grass field, semi-hard packed dirt trails and gravel roads through Willow Hills Cross Country Course at the Willow Hills Reservoir.
The girls ran the Girls Small Schools Varsity race with a total of 191 runners. Emily McNeely came in 35th with a time of 21:28:28 and Taylor Davison came in 64th with a time of 22:37:74.
The boys ran the the Boys Small Schools Varsity race with a total of 264 runners. Jared Marchegger placed 2nd in the last 75 meters with a time of 16:33:44; Teagan Hansen was 22nd with a time of 17:42.87; Andreas Gilson was 141st with a time of 20:23:73 which is a personal records for him; Jake Tack was 213th with a time of 22:52:52; and Zachary Houghton was 242nd with a time of 25:36:04. Both Jared Marchegger and Teagan Hansen received medals for their efforts.
The coaches are excited to watch the team continue to improve as they get ready for the Northern Regional Meet at Shadow Mountain on Friday, October 27th.
