Carson City organizers 'floored' by volunteer turnout for Lone Mountain Cemetery cleanup
The Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department is absolutely floored by the number of volunteers who attended the Lone Mountain cleanup on Saturday, Oct. 8 ,2022.
We had around 115 volunteers in attendance, comprising of individuals, families and groups. We are extremely grateful to Carson City Home Depot, DAR Battle Born chapter, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Carson, The Lions Club, Kiwanis of Sierra Nevada, Rotary, The Carson Auxiliary Club, United Federal Credit Union and the Carson City Juvenile Work Program volunteers.
These groups, in addition to 30-plus individuals and families in attendance cleaned-up sections of the cemetery that would have taken our staff around 1 week of intense work to complete.
This event would not have been possible without recognizing Mayor Bagwell, who chose a clean-up of Lone Mountain Cemetery as part of her 'Move with the Mayor' Initiative, which encourages communities to get out and move!
There are several more 'Move with the Mayor' events coming up. Go here to learn more about the initiative and events.
