Congressman Mark Amodei to reminisce with Carson City Leisure Hour Club on Oct. 17
The Carson City Leisure Hour Club will soon step back into the 1960s and 70s to look at Carson City through the eyes of someone who was a teenager at the time. On Thursday, Oct. 17, Mark Amodei will share his memories of growing up in the city with club members.
Mark was born in Carson City in 1958 and graduated from Carson High School in 1976, where he was Class President. Mark graduated from the University of Nevada in 1980, and received his law degree from McGeorge Law School, University of the Pacific in 1983. Mark served with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps from 1983 to 1987.
Returning to Carson City, Mark served in the Nevada Assembly and the Nevada State Senate as well as working as an attorney with law firms Allison MacKenzie in Carson City and Kummer Kaempfer Bonner Renshaw and Ferrario (now Kaempfer Crowell) in Reno. Beginning in 2011, he has served as the U.S. Congressional Representative for Nevada’s Second District.
The Leisure Hour Club, established in September of 1896, is Carson City’s oldest continuously meeting social organization. The organization is focused on its goal of promoting knowledge on important issues, science, music and literature. Its motto of "Let knowledge grow from more to more" comes from Tennyson’s poem In Memoriam.
Reservations are required on or before Sunday, October 13 for the meeting and dinner and can be made by calling 775.302.8820 or by email to lhcreservations@gmail.com.
