Happening tonight: Spirited Capitol City with Janice Oberding at the Nevada State Railroad Museum
The Nevada State Railroad Museum presents Spirited Capitol City Part 1 with Janice Oberding, tonight, Friday, Sept. 27 at 5:30pm. Join Janice for her presentation about Carson City's spooky history of spiritualists and ghostly activity.
One medium named Mrs. Meyer was particularly well known for the séances she conducted at the Elsworth House, just a block east of the old train depot. During the hot August nights of 1881, these spiritual gatherings left residents both intrigued and unsettled by the ghostly phenomena reported.
Today, Carson City’s rich tapestry of spiritual legends, from the bride of Ferris Mansion to the haunting tales of the Governor’s Mansion and the Mint, continues to captivate those interested in the supernatural.
Join us for a fascinating deep dive into the history of Nevada séances, including how they were conducted and the ghost stories that followed. And if you’re feeling extra spooky, join us next month for a séance with paranormal historian Janice Oberding.
Admission for the presentation is $10 per adult, and FREE for museum members and children (17 and under).
The railroad museum is at 2180 South Carson Street, Carson City. For more information, please call (775) 687-6953.
