'Move with the Mayor' Lone Mountain Cemetery clean-up happening Oct. 7
After the incredibly successful event last year at Lone Mountain Cemetery with the Move with the Mayor initiative, we are hosting another mass clean-up of the cemetery on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023 from 9 to 11 a.m. ‘Move with the Mayor’ is a national campaign developed by the National Forum for Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention to encourage people to live active, healthy lifestyles.
The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department is seeking groups, families and individuals to participate in a volunteer clean-up of the historic Lone Mountain Cemetery. Volunteers will focus on weed removal around headstones.
This event will require volunteers to stoop, kneel and lift piles of weeds and debris and utilize basic hand tools such as rakes and hula hoe weeders.
The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department will provide all the necessary tools and equipment for this event and asks volunteers to wear long pants, closed toed shoes and bring sunscreen and water bottles.
Additional water will be provided by the Department. Please note dogs are not permitted at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
For more information, or to participate, please contact the Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department Volunteer Coordinator, Chelsea Kincheloe at 775-283-7126 or chkincheloe@carson.org.
