Ask a Master Gardener at the Carson City Community Garden
Bring your gardening questions to Carson's Community Garden to get solutions on alternating Saturdays starting July 8, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Carson City and Storey County Extension Master Gardener interns will be available to examine plant/insect samples, discuss alternatives and provide support for area gardeners, families, and those new to gardening in the region.
Our area is known for drought conditions and less-than-optimal soils. Trained volunteers will be available at the Carson Community Garden located at 1044 Beverly Drive, which has been managed by the University of Nevada, Reno's Extension staff for 21 years due to Carson City supervisors' requests.
"Answering resident questions, our volunteers use the knowledge and skills they gain through the first year of their involvement with the two-part Nevada Master Gardener program. The latest training and exposure to horticulture experts give these interns strategies to educate our residents and enhance the quality of life in our local communities," expressed Lisa K. Taylor, Ph.D., local Extension Educator.
Community gardening opportunities would not be possible without the ongoing support of the Carson City leadership, Parks and Recreation, and Public Works Departments, our residents, and local, state and national entities who partner with our UNR Extension's Carson City and Storey County Extension faculty and staff.
Call Lisa Taylor, local Extension Educator, at 775-887-2252 (o) 405-448-0663 (m) for further information.
