A Night with Notorious Nevadans: Mint Edition premieres in Carson City
Join the Friends of the Nevada State Museum on Saturday, August 3 for an evening of Chautauqua in the Nevada Room of the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City. The event will celebrate the remarkable history of the United States Mint in Carson City and the Nevada State Museum.
Meet the men and women who lived in Carson City and worked at the Mint and Museum from the 1870s to the 1960s. You will get to know the first superintendent of the Mint, along with some of the men and women that worked day to day at the Mint in the 1870s.
Follow us through history as we introduce you to many of the women trailblazers in the history of the Mint and of course, you will meet one of the men accused of embezzlement during that same time period. Then we travel through time to the creation of the Nevada State Museum that now houses historic coin press number one.
Tickets are $40 for dinner and the show and available at the Nevada State Museum Gift Shop. Doors open at 4 pm for dinner, no-host bar and raffle. Show begins at 5:15 pm.
All proceeds support the Friends of the Nevada State Museum, a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization.
