Tour of Early Nevada Governors' Homes Scheduled for July 18
Back by popular demand, Friends of the Nevada State Museum (FNSM) member and tour guide Ron Roberts will lead a tour highlighting the homes of former Nevada governors on Wednesday, July 18 at 9:30 am. The tour is offered as part of the activities sponsored by the FNSM and will begin in the park area in front of the Nevada State Museum on Carson Street.
Guide Ron Roberts will narrate the tour of the historic west side of the City including the Governor’s Mansion on Mountain Street, where Brian Sandoval, the state’s 29th governor, currently resides. Former Gov. Denver Dickerson (1909-1911) and his family were the first to live in the Governor’s Mansion. Also included are the Hannah Clapp home, the Bliss Mansion, “The Shootist” house, the Curry home, and the Ferris Mansion. Much of the tour follows Carson City’s “Blue Line Trail,” a path through the historic district currently designated by a painted blue line and bronze medallions along the route.
The tour is free, but tips received go toward the work of the Friends organization that supports the work and activities of the Nevada State Museum.
Individuals interested in participating in the tour should contact Ron Roberts at 775.885.8634 since the number of participants is limited.
