Carson City's Catmandu presents their Cat of the Week: Boots
Don’t let the grumpy face fool you. Boots is sweet as sweet can be. A healthy 9-year-old boy, he was much loved by his owner Mary Phillips. Mary and her husband Doug owned and operated “Another Chance” kitty rescue in Dayton and were responsible for rescuing and finding new homes for thousands of kittens. Tragically, Mary passed away unexpectedly in December of 2020.
In poor health and forced to move, Doug had to find new homes for all the animals they had accumulated. Boots was one of the kitties that Catmandu took in. His friends all got adopted, while he continues to wait and hope.
Boots is a quiet, reserved cat who isn’t comfortable with strangers. He usually runs and hides when new people visit Catmandu. This makes it difficult for adopters to meet this shy guy. However, once he trusts someone and feels safe he is an absolute sweetie.
Boots qualifies for Catmandu’s Senior to Senior Foster Cat Program. This program matches senior citizens with senior cats. In this program, the cat is removed from the adoptable list and lives with their person 24/7: but still belongs to Catmandu.
If the cat becomes ill, Catmandu provides health care and treatment. If something happens to the senior, such as moving to an assisted living home, the cat returns to Catmandu. This program helps the cat and the senior by providing both with a loving companion.
If you prefer a mature, quiet cat like Boots and would like to provide a second chance for a loving home for this deserving boy, please visit Catmandu. We are open every Friday – Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 1829 Brown Street.
