Carson City’s Catmandu presents their Cat of the Week: Gentle Ben
Truly a “Tom Cat”, Gentle Ben was living on the streets in Northern California with his homeless owner. Animal Control captured him and placed him in a small steel cage at a high kill shelter. He was too scared to eat and wouldn’t interact with any of the staff. He was quickly placed on the euthanasia list.
A kind volunteer from Hard Knock Cats saved him and contacted Catmandu in Carson City. He was skin and bones by the time he arrived and very, very depressed. Linda and the volunteers loved him back to health with medical care and lots of fresh air on the giant catio with access to a specially fenced back yard. Slowly, he began to regain his will to live.
Let’s hear from Gentle Ben himself:
“I’ve gained weight now, and I’m happy again. They say I am a charmer and one of the staff’s favorites. I like to think I’m everyone’s love bug. The vet thinks I’m 9 years young, with lots of years ahead of me. I’m neutered and up to date on my shots. My street days are behind me, thank you very much, so I’m looking for a safe indoor home. I would love a large catio or secured outdoor area to enjoy.”
If you would like to meet Gentle Ben, please visit Catmandu, Friday – Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1829 Brown Street, and ask for Gentle Ben.
