Carson City area volunteers invited for brushing, trail repair Saturday for National Trails Day
Join Muscle Powered and Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space for National Trails Day on June 3rd 2023. We will work on brushing the Waterfall Trail and North Kings Loop and fixing sections of trail that have been damaged by this past winter.
Brushing and trail repair use tools such as loppers, McLeods, hand saws and rakes to remove encroaching brush and to work trail surfaces.
Come prepared with PPE including long-sleeved shirt, long pants, sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots, protective glasses, plus gloves and hard hat or biker helmet if you have them. Bring your own water, snacks, and sunscreen. CCPROS and MP will provide crew supervision, tools and a limited supply of gloves and hats.
An interpretive program will be available to individuals. A short nature hike with an ecology professor will explore a portion of North Kings Loop. Come prepared for a hike wearing closed-toed shoes, long pants, short or long sleeves, and enough water for a moderate hike up a portion of Waterfall Trail and North Kings Loop.
Trail crew and hike participants should be ready to start activities around 9:00 AM. Arrive at Kings Canyon Waterfall Trailhead parking at the end of the asphalt road.
If you're interested in joining us, please email Chelsea at chkincheloe@carson.org For those joining trail crew, please copy Pete at peter.doenges@musclepowered.org so we can check our tool supplies and sizing of crew teams.
Happy trails!
