Dispose of unused prescription drugs Saturday at Dayton Smiths

Event Date:
April 24, 2021 - 10:00am

Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties announces its annual Drug Round-up to raise awareness about the healthy impacts for communities when unused and expired prescription drugs are safely disposed of.

When: There will be a conveniently located disposal event in partnership with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, April 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: The Drug Round-up takes place at Smith’s Food and Drug on Highway 50 in Dayton, Nevada.

This event is designed to offer education about safe disposal of unused or expired prescription drugs, over-the-counter products, prescription liquids, and pet medications. No sharps (syringes) can be accepted at this event, however. The effort is part of the nationwide federal drug round-up initiative.

Free at-home prescription drug disposal kits are also available. The kits provide an option for proper disposal at home and are safe for trash disposal.

For more information, call Alisha Moss at Healthy Communities at 775-246-7550 or visit healthycomm.org.
