April Carson City Park Ranger-led programs include geology, birding and a Prison Hill hike
Every month, the Carson City Park Rangers offer various Ranger-Led programs that include educational opportunities, historical fun, events and exciting adventures.
All programs are offered for free and take place in one of the many Carson City parks and open space areas. Online Registration is required so Park Rangers have a proper head count. Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and dogs may or may not be allowed.
All programs are subject to cancellation due to Park Ranger availability; registered participants will be notified. You can find more information about each program here.

End to End Prison Hill Patrol
What's the best kind of Park Ranger patrol? A Foot Patrol! Foot patrols give our Park Rangers the opportunity to address issues unseen from the road or trailhead, make education and enforcement contacts with trial users, note trail damages and maintenance needs, pick up litter, and much more!
This special adventure gives participants the chance to experience Prison Hill from the 5th Street Trailhead all the way to the OHV staging area over a 6-mile foot patrol with a Carson City Park Ranger. Can you think of a better way to celebrate Earth Day.
The hike is considered "More Difficult" according to the IMBA trail rating system. Expect moderate to steep terrain with sandy sections and rock obstacles along a 6 mile hike. Transporation will be provided back to the 5th Street Trailhead.
